Carnival Cruise Day 4 – Halloween – Grand Turks

Posted on November 11, 2019

After the tour of the previous day, we did not know what would happen today. It was surprisingly nice.  We arranged to lay on a private beach and play in the ocean.

We were instructed to be on the port at around 8:30 AM for a leisurely day. Another van ride to a private beach with included free food and drink. We arranged ourselves on a beach chair facing the water. The sun even at around 9:00 AM was pretty warm. The water was beautiful. It was not too hot and cool enough to be enjoyed. I have never seen water that was so clear. We played in the water and made a resolution that next year we would get a beach house so we could play on the sand with our dogs.

My wonderful husband

We rested for a few hours, I had a few rum punches and Caribbean food and that was enough. The most wonderful aspect of this exertion was that the van could pick you up every half an hour. You were not held captive waiting for the day to end.

After we had enough sun and surf, we took the van back to the pier and went shopping but did not remember to bring a picture ID so we went back on the boat. We changed our clothes and returned to shop again. The strange thing was the Starbucks. Its registers were setup for transactions but would only take cash. We found a Ron John’s Surf shop and bought most of our souvenirs there. We were acquainted with Ron John’s from our favorite beach in Cacao Beach, Florida. We looked in other shops and had a shot of the local rum that they were sampling.

Being covered with a thin coat of sand and for just plain cleanliness, my bunkmate and I showered and felt fresh and I smelled much better.

It was Halloween. On ship they had many Halloween theme events such as a costume contest. In the halls we saw many of our fellow cruisers in costumes making merry. It was very amusing to see men dressed in Hula Skirts and women is brightly colored wigs.

We had dinner in the restaurant and were going to see Captain Marvel in one of the lounges. It was a very small screen. Coincidentally we had this movie on one of the laptops which we brought.  I got a decaffeinated coffee and sweetened it with Baileys and Irish Whiskey. My husband Ed, sweetened his with Frangelico and Kahlua. We went back to our room and watched the movie and went to sleep.
